Jessica Mangrobang Feature Athlete Interview – Committed to Gonzaga University
We at SportsForce would like to congratulate Jessica Mangrobang on her commitment to Gonzaga University. Here is Jessica’s recruiting story and interview after her commitment. Good luck as a Bulldog!
1.) Share your recruiting story, status, and how SportsForce helping with the process.
The recruiting process actually took longer than I thought it would, but that is only because I wanted to make 100% sure that the college I would pick would be one of my favorites/best fit. Before September 1st of my junior year, the recruiting process was a little bit hard only because the coaches are not allowed to approach you quite yet. That is where having Sportsforce was a nice asset. They were able to introduce me to all of the Division 1 colleges/universities that I wanted to go to well before that time. When September 1st finally came in, I received a lot of text messages and emails from coaches. This is only because the coaches were able to get my information through Sportsforce. After seeing the replies that I got, that is when I started to narrow down my choices. I have a passion/curiosity for Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering and so I was looking for a college that had my major. Aside from this, I also have a dream of someday becoming a professional tour golfer, and so I wanted a college/ university that would allow me to do both. The recruiting process for me was a lot of narrowing down and comparisons. After having a couple calls with different coaches, I started comparing how comfortable I would feel with them. After comparing the colleges with one another, I tried comparing how my grades and my athletics would compare with their academics/athletics. Again, lots of comparing and narrowing down. Once I narrowed it down to my top 3-4 universities, I compared the benefits of the colleges. I was able to get a few offers and I chose the best-fit university for me. After a lot of careful examinations, I committed to Gonzaga University in April of my Junior Year.
2.) What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?
I am going to Gonzaga University. I chose them because they had my major, which is Mechanical Engineering. They also have a really strong golf team which I liked. When I visited their university for an unofficial visit, I really enjoyed the cold weather (but that’s my opinion). The team was also really nice and welcoming and I felt really excited in thinking that I might join their team (and I did). The coaches were also really nice and I felt comfortable knowing that for my college career that I will have them to guide me. In all, the university was really nice. It gives me a chance to strive for my engineering goals along with my golf dreams. A bonus of going to Gonzaga for me is that it is also a Catholic Jesuit school. I always attended catholic school ever since Pre-K, so furthering my faith is also a nice bonus.
3.) What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process?
It is really nice to start early. Of course, you will see other people committing to colleges super early (like freshman/sophomore years), but do not worry too much about that. To be honest, I worried about it because some of my top colleges already had their players set in, but that led me to see a great university like Gonzaga. To players I would have to say, “Be very patient. All of this stress is worth it in the end. Trust me. I know the stress. It’s a lot, but once you start to dial in your choices, you eventually become very happy with your college/university. I know that your parents might push you harder to do stuff, but it’s for the best. Just be patient, it will come. You just have to do your part, too, though. The coaches want to talk to you, not your parents. Though it is nice to have your parents do everything for you, you can’t let them do EVERYTHING. You also need to go with what fits your standards the best. It took me a long time to figure out exactly what I wanted, but I eventually found it”.
4.) How excited are you for your future in college?
I am honestly very excited about college. It is a new experience and I am excited for traveling with the team and also growing up as my own person. I expect that college will demand a lot from me and I am somewhat ready to face it. I am looking forward to furthering my education and also furthering my golf career.
5.) How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses?
According to information online, I am saving my family about $53,316+ (per year) or, over $213,000 total in college expenses since I was offered a full ride through my recruiting process.
6.) Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?
I would really recommend Sportsforce to other student-athletes because, without their help, my critical information probably wouldn’t have reached my college target list, including Gonzaga (which is most likely how they were able to find me). It also made it a lot easier because they are able to personally introduce me to the colleges that were a fit both athletically and academically. They also give a lot of other help when it comes to checking up on your progress. They give a lot of tips and help on how to react and respond to coaches and how to deal with certain situations.
Over the last five years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $50,000 in college expenses.
Reed LaBar Feature Athlete Interview – Committed to Cal State San Marcos
We at SportsForce would like to congratulate Reed LaBar on his commitment to CSU San Marcos. Here are Reed’s recruiting story and interview after he committed. Good luck as a Cougar!
Ryan Novis Feature Athlete Interview – Committed to St. Mary’s College
We at SportsForce would like to congratulate Ryan Novis on his commitment to St. Mary’s College. Here are Ryan’s recruiting story and interview after he committed. Good luck as a Gael! 1. Share your recruiting story and status We started the recruiting process late but didn’t know it. At first, we didn’t think we needed help, but after a while what we were hearing from recruiters, schools, and showcases did not add up. Everyone was very positive, and despite our son’s many accolades (All District, All State, Junior All American) our communication with the colleges seemed to stall. We sought out Andrew and his team at SportsForce and they had an immediate impact for us. They helped us move beyond the marketing hype and wishful thinking and were able to give us the real information we could act on, even when we didn’t want to hear it. They were always honest and supportive, a tough combination. With their help, we reworked Ryan’s profile and videos (never underestimate how important this is!) and they could tell us who was really interested in Ryan and who was trying to collect a fee for a camp. Being recruited is a highly competitive process, especially on the west coast where the number of talented athletes outnumbers the available scholarship opportunities nearly five to one. The process starts earlier and earlier and is more competitive in every way. To be honest, I am not sure how the Coaches themselves manage to navigate this process. It’s challenging for everyone, but Andrew and his team helped us get a handle on it, helped us put together a real plan we could act on, and they supported us through our efforts. In the end, the offers started to come and when the right school offered Ryan, everyone in the family was informed enough to know that it was the right offer. In the end, we feel incredibly blessed because Ryan found exactly the right opportunity, at the right school for him and we could not be happier. I do not believe this would have been possible without the help of the Sportsforce team. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? Ryan is going to St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. Ryan selected St. Mary’s because it had the best of all the factors that mattered the most to him. They are a division 1 school that competes in the West Coast Conference. They need players in Ryan’s position – outfield, and the school is well known for its academics. As a final bonus, it is located in Northern California, a beautiful part of the country. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? 1) Advice – Andrew provided excellent and honest assessments 2) Programs – the email template, campaigns and tracking sheets made things much more manageable 3) Q&A – They helped us prepare for conversations with coaches and campus visit 4) Video editing – they took our raw footage and dramatically improved the presentation 5) Insight – The events we attended that were recommended by the SportsForce team lead to real recruiting conversations. 6) Encouragement – It can be a long frustrating process and SportsForce was always supportive and encouraging. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? There are a lot of people who are happy to sell you what you want to hear. In my business I work with many advisors, some of them earning many hundreds of dollars per hour and they are well worth it because of the trouble they save me. Once I realized that Andrew and his team were much they same, their value became obvious. Get with their program and follow it. Early. If your son (or daughter) really does have what it takes to play at the next level, having a solid advisor, in my opinion, makes that process easier to navigate. 5. How excited are you for your future in college? Ryan is extremely excited about his future in college as is the whole family. 6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses? We will have saved about $100,000 due to the athletic scholarship money. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would absolutely recommend SportsForce for all the reasons I have mentioned above. Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. Started by CEO & founder Andrew Beinbrink, SportsForce Baseball is a nationally recognized college recruiting advisory group with over 40 former college coaches, players, and MLB scouts in 10 different states. During the last 11+ years, we’ve helped over 1,000 players make their college commitments. Read below, why we are different from every recruiting group in the country. Why SportsForce is Different: * View our Home Page Video Unlike most recruiting companies, we do not just partner with anyone for our hands-on recruiting programs. Instead, we only partner with qualified players who meet our Five academic, athletic, and coachability selection factors. We evaluate between 10,000-12,000 players each summer and fall at top showcases and selectively advise, and advocate for only a limited number of players each year by directly contacting college coaches to help them maximize recruiting offers. Each of our expert college recruiters is limited to how many players they will advise so there is the best combination of hands-on guidance and personal recruiting outreach to college coaches. We at SportsForce would like to congratulate Jacob Sniffin on his commitment to the University of Hawaii Manoa. Here is Jacob’s recruiting story and interview from after he committed. Good luck as a Warrior! 1. Share your recruiting story and status The recruiting process for me was a very interesting experience and very different from what I thought it would be. It can be very long or very short, and sometimes it is just playing well in the right place at the right time. For instance, I started being recruited by Hawaii by playing well against one of Hawaii’s coach’s best friends, who referred me to their coach and it took off from there. I ended up committing after I went on an official visit, and knew it was the place for me. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I am going to the University of Hawaii, Manoa. I chose this school because I loved the entire atmosphere of the island itself, the campus was very nice and the baseball team gets a lot of help with academics because they are on the road a lot, and the coaching staff really cares about making their players better and succeeding in their careers, with the team itself being one big family. I loved everything about it. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? Sportsforce helped me by asking me all the right questions about myself, my skills, my academic ability, and what I am really looking for from a college and its baseball program. They really helped me in learning what to say to college coaches, either in emails or in person, which was very important because in hindsight I would not have been ready to talk to coaches or even know what to say or what questions to ask to find out most of the information on their school and program. Lastly, they helped me by putting a video together to showcase my ability to the coaches I wanted to, and that was one of the factors that made the Hawaii coach come to watch me play was when he saw my video. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? The best advice I would have for people is to start early in the freshman/sophomore year, and do not be so focused on going to a D1 school or an absolute powerhouse. Keep an open mind, because you want to go somewhere you will have a chance to play and that you will enjoy being a part of that school. 5. How excited are you for your future in college? Personally, I could not be more excited about my future in college. It has been a dream of mine since the day I realized I loved playing and it was what I wanted to do when I was older. I have a great opportunity to come into a program with spots open and a lot of competition, and I am looking forward to that very much. 6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses? We are saving around $20,000+ a year by being a recruited athlete for an out-of-state school. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?Patrick Davis Feature Athlete Interview- Committed to Dickinson College

Following Up After an Event
Many of these events are designed to give many coaches a great chance to see many potential recruits playing against top competition. Do you feel that you have had a good amount of coaches at your games? Did you contact your target schools ahead of your events and did their coaches come out to watch you play?
If yes, the most important thing to do now is to follow up with them and thank them for taking the time to come out and watch you play. The biggest challenge in the recruiting process is establishing a solid relationship with your target school’s coaches.
With the remaining summer events, it is important that you stay relevant in these coaches’ eyes… Get a highlight video made, follow up with them and make sure that you stay on their radar.
We know this may seem like a lot to take on, and that’s where our college recruiting advisors can really help you out. They have been through the same process as players, coaches, or as both! Click here to set up a college prospect evaluation call to find out how you are doing with your summer game plan and where you stand in the college recruiting process and timeline.

I MADE THE WORLD CUP TEAM BY ACCIDENT… SAID NO ONE EVER.
As I’ve been watching the group play of the 2015 Women’s World Cup, I can’t help but think about how much hard work, grit, and dedication it took me to make it to the top collegiate level. I think, wow, these women participating in the World Cup took that to a whole new level. Whenever I thought I did everything I could that day to better myself as a player, these women did 3 times more. However, what is even more impressive is that most of these women achieved this by being full-time moms, full-time students or holding full-time jobs, no excuses made. There is no other world stage where the athletes competing in it wear as many hats as these women whilst being elite athletes. I don’t think I will ever forget Joy Fawcett in all of her World Cups, bringing her kids along, or playing in the Olympics weeks after giving birth. These women are true heroes and warriors!
So how did they get to where they are? Well, how does anyone that is the top 1% in their field get to where they are at? It’s simple:
1.) While the world sleeps they work
2.) When life presents an opportunity they seize it, no hesitation
3.) They create routine and hold themselves accountable
4.) They fill their bodies with proper nutrients and a lot of it
So let’s start with the first one. How many times do you catch yourself saying “I just ran out of time today,” making an excuse for why you didn’t go to the gym or go for a run? I know I have. Well here is your solution… Get up early, 5:00/6:00 am, and get it done first. I promise you all Fortune 500 CEO’s and Olympic athletes don’t sleep in or watch 4+ hours of TV a day, or waste hours on social media.
Think about it, do you want to be someone who reads about other people’s greatness or does you want to be someone that others read about your greatness? You decide. I think you will find that the morning calm before the world wakes up is a magical and spiritual time, and there is no greater feeling in the world than heading off to school, or your work day, knowing that you have already achieved something great… a long run, gym, or yoga class.
Opportunity, we all know what that means– “a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something.” I am sure you all are recognizing the big opportunities– an invitation to ODP camp, ID camp participation, etc. But let’s really break it down and focus on the little opportunities that you may be overlooking that have the greatest impact. The opportunity to practice once a week with your older age group, the opportunity to play kick around with your brother or older sibling’s team, the opportunity to hit the gym with your parents or friends, the opportunity to play indoor, the opportunity to reach out to a local collegiate player to train with them, the opportunity to stay late after practice and help a teammate or yourself work on your kicks, or fitness, or touch.
It is these little opportunities that will raise your game most profusely. Remember, “If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.” (Colin Powell.) What he means by this is that if you are going to succeed on the grander scale you need to first succeed on a smaller scale. I always say, start your day with making your bed. It is a little achievement but it is nonetheless an achievement and a start.
We all know routine is important, but we all can get a calendar and map out our week and think, wow, I am going to get so much done this week. But what I want you to do is get to the END of your week and say, “wow, I GOT so much done this week!”
Look back and see how many actions you were able to cross off. This is accountability, and I promise you there is no one in your life that is going to force you to do anything. Your parents are great advocates of yours, along with your friends and teammates, but at the end of the day, the only person that can make you get up and run farther, or faster, or do a third set of squats IS YOU. This is a true testament to how bad do you want to be great? I guarantee all those women you are watching on TV never had to be told to run harder, run farther or lift more. They do it because they want to be great!
Fuel, cars need it to run, some machines need it to run, and we ABSOLUTELY need it to run. But you have to remember that it needs to be the right fuel. If you just went to the gym and worked out hard, then reward yourself with a healthy snack and some hydration. Don’t ruin everything you have achieved in the gym by getting drive through after. That is being counterproductive.
Remember that you are an elite athlete and may look a little different than your non-athlete friends. I am here to tell you that more is OK! You are strong, fit, and beautiful, and your body needs more because you are burning more. So don’t feel bad about finishing your whole sandwich, yogurt, apple and peanut butter, Cliff bar, banana, and huge water. You needed it! Because at the end of the day, if you thrive at the first three–getting up early, seizing the opportunity, and being accountable, then you will never reach your potential if your body cannot keep up. Eat healthy, eat often and hydrate all the time! Be that person in the class that always has a water bottle with them.
So now that you have been given the recipe for success and ultimately a road map on how to make the World Cup team, what are you going to do with it?
Will I be watching you on TV in 4 years, maybe 8 years? I hope so, and I believe so 🙂

Helping Junior Golfers Successfully Execute their College Game Plan
San Diego, CA – SportsForce has partnered with Future Champions Golf to help amateur golfers, who aspire to play college golf, maximize their recruiting and scholarship opportunities. Founded by former college athletes and coaches, SportsForce evaluates potential college prospects across their athletic and academic potential and then personalizes each college recruiting game plan to match their family’s college goals.
There is a lot of confusion surrounding the college recruiting process, so SportsForce focuses on offering a personalized and comprehensive college game plan for families to follow. The goal is threefold: 1.) to save families a lot of money by avoiding unnecessary, excessive or ineffective recruiting gimmicks, 2.) to help generate interest from college coaches at viewing tournaments and, 3.) to personally mentor junior golfers in creating and sustaining direct dialogue and meaningful relationships with college coaches, which is one of the keys to securing college offers.
As part of the partnership, SportsForce will educate and empower golf players and parents with world-class quality college golf recruiting workshops at select Future Champions Golf events. SportsForce will also provide ongoing recruiting advice, strategies, and guidance through 1-on-1 college golf evaluation phone calls, educational materials and access to our college planning and recruiting resources.
Over the last 8+ years, SportsForce has successfully assisted hundreds of families with their college game plans. Through the years, they have found that many families need help with more than just recruiting. It’s also important to focus on how the academic, athletic and financial goals and status impact the entire college planning and selection process.
Andrew Beinbrink, the CEO of SportsForce and former four-time All-American at ASU, says “with the competitiveness of the college admissions process, student-athletes and parents are using sports as a vehicle to get into the best colleges they possibly can. A recruited student-athlete has a tremendous advantage in the admissions process over the normal student.”
Founded in 2004 by PGA Teaching Professional Chris Smeal, Future Champions Golf has been focused on helping junior golfers take their game to the next level. Realizing there was a huge void for top junior golf coaching, no premier tournament programs or tools to help players prepare for college golf, Chris dedicated himself to provide that complete system for youth golfers. “I want to make the game of golf more exciting for kids and spark each players’ love for the game. For the serious players, we can help them and their parents take their game to the college level.”
About SportsForce: Over the last 5 years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and their families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $50,000 in college expenses. SportsForce’s mission is to help student-athletes find the college that’s the best all-around fit for them and their family while maximizing their college recruiting and scholarship opportunities.

Cole Wolfson Feature Athlete Interview – Committed to Bellarmine University
We at SportsForce would like to congratulate Cole Wolfson on his commitment to Bellarmine University. Here are Cole’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Knight!
1.) Share your recruiting story and status.
The recruiting process for me took place mostly between the end of my sophomore year and my junior year. I committed a couple months before the 2014 spring season started.
2.) What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?
I am going to Bellarmine University. To be honest I did not think I would like Bellarmine but I completely changed my mind about my school when I visited. I committed because I liked the coaching staff and I thought the city of Louisville where Bellarmine is located was really cool.
3.) How did SportsForce help in the process?
SportsForce really made the process easier for me. SportsForce helped spread the word about my highlight video and notifying coaches on what tournaments I would play in.
4.) What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process?
I would say that working hard in middle school is probably the best advice I can give because the recruiting circuit starts so early in lacrosse it is important that coming into high school your game is up to par.
5.) How excited are you for your future in college?
I am super excited for college. Playing college lacrosse has been a dream of mine for some time so to be fulfilling it is a relief.
6.) How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses?
I am not exactly sure but I think somewhere in the ballpark of $60-70,000.
7.) Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?
Yeah, I would recommend SportsForce to other student-athletes as it’s a nice tool to have in the recruiting process.
Over the last five years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $50,000 in college expenses.
