We would like to congratulate Matt McNaney on his commitment to Trinity University. Here are Matt’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Tiger! 1. Share your recruiting story and status! I verbally committed with Coach Waters while at the Stanford camp on July 10, 2019. I really began the recruiting process after the spring season of my sophomore year. This is when we began reaching out to college coaches and attend the large recruiting camps, mostly academic, around the southwest and California. I ended up only playing in front of the Trinity University coaches one time, which was at the Headfirst Academic Camp in Arizona during the fall of my Junior year. This is where we began to communicate and he invited me to come visit their campus later in the fall. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I am going to Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. I chose this school because throughout this process I learned that I wanted to go to a smaller high academic school close to New Mexico with the best baseball possible. As I learned more about Trinity I realized that it was one of the only schools that fit all of these criteria. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was so helpful in getting me in contact with all of the coaches and schools that I was interested in, as well as tracking which schools were answering and watching my video. The video was also incredibly helpful and SportsForce helped us to put all of my clips together and got them to the coaches that I wanted to communicate with. The team also gave me and my Dad a ton of advice about what we should be doing in regards to emails, camps, and showcases. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? My advice to others who are going through this process would be to start the process as early as you can, but also to take your time with your decision. Some of my teammates and friends started committing very early and at times I felt that I wanted to commit as early as I could like they did. I had an opportunity to commit early as well and I am glad I didn’t because that would not have been nearly as good of a situation. So take your time in the process and make sure to investigate the smaller D2 and D3 baseball schools too. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? I am super excited about my future in college. I think that Trinity is the perfect school for me socially, academically, and athletically. I know that it is a place that I can really thrive on and off the field and have a lot of fun as well. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? I would estimate that my family is saving about $100,000 with the academic scholarship that Trinity is offering alone because it is a division 3. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? Yes without a doubt I would recommend SportsForce to any athlete of a family that is serious about pursuing college athletics. The SportsForce team was always helpful and gave my family a lot of personal help. Why SportsForce is Different: * View our Home Page Video Unlike most recruiting companies, we do not just partner with anyone for our hands-on recruiting programs. Instead, we only partner with qualified players who meet our Five academic, athletic, and coachability selection factors. We evaluate between 10,000-12,000 players each summer and fall at top showcases and selectively advise, and advocate for only a limited number of players each year by directly contacting college coaches to help them maximize recruiting offers. Each of our expert college recruiters is limited to how many players they will advise so there is the best combination of hands-on guidance and personal recruiting outreach to college coaches.
