Sara Fraschetti

Sara Fraschetti graduated from La Costa Canyon High School (Carlsbad, CA) in 2001 when the Girl’s Lacrosse team seized their first California State Girl’s Lacrosse Championship. She went on to play at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as attack and center for three years where she helped the team earn three of their seven consecutive Club Division-I National Championship Titles. She earned “Most Inspirational Player” all three years and was named Captain her junior year. Sara graduated from Cal Poly in June of 2006, where she majored in Liberal Studies and double minored in Business and Psychology.

“I have been coaching Women’s and Girl’s Lacrosse for 11 years at every possible level- from NCAA D1, International Elite, High School Varsity, club, and Youth Lacrosse. Throughout these years there has been a handful of players that I have found to be exceptional, not only because of what they are able to do on the field, but also for the passion, commitment, and love they have for the game off of the field. Sara Fraschetti is one of these players and I am extremely proud to have coached her as a student-athlete at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Sara is the type of player that was able to play any position because of her ability to listen and translate what she learned directly to the field- her commitment saw her put many extra hours outside of practice and games to perfect her technique. Despite Sara’s ability on the field her true strength lies outside of it. She had a passion and intensity for the game that inspired her teammates around her to work harder, consistently improve, and more importantly love the game- a trait I’m sure she translates to her players as a coach today. Sara’s unique personality allows her to have a light and fun air about her while at the same time being intense, competitive, and focused. The mark of a true player is the ability to give back to their sport and inspire the next generation with the passion and love of the game that they have, to show that difficulties are a challenge to be overcome, and to give them every possible tool to maximize their potential. Sara Fraschetti has the skill and attitude as a player to be a great leader, to listen and give feedback, and more importantly- to show that there are no boundaries to what can be achieved with passion and commitment.” Brandon Badgley Head Coach Cal Poly Women’s Lacrosse 2001-2004

“Sara Fraschetti, 3rd year Girl’s Lacrosse Assistant Varsity Coach for La Costa Canyon High School, is without a doubt the most enthusiastic, positive, encouraging coach we have ever known. Sara is keenly observant and notices the littlest details about each girl. She then uses this knowledge to effectively tailor individual skills emphasis where needed. She is very well spoken and communicates clearly and positively with both parents and athletes. Sara’s exuberance is contagious and she has the ability to single handedly change the mood of a team. Both parents and girls at LCC adore Sara and we all feel blessed to have her as our coach.”

Sara returns for her third year as the La Costa Canyon High School Girl’s Varsity Lacrosse Assistant Coach. Sara helped lead the team to a 23-0 record in 2008 and 2nd consecutive CIF Championship (San Diego section). She has conducted private lacrosse lessons in the Carlsbad community since 2007 for middle school to high school athletes where she works directly with parents, athletes and coaches. While coaching high school, Sara has coached Adrenaline Youth Lacrosse since 2007, introducing the sport of lacrosse to hundreds of girls between the ages of 11 and 13. Sara brings her passion for lacrosse and her knowledge in marketing, recruiting and networking; she plans to contribute to the continued success of SportsForce within the growing world of Women’s Lacrosse. Sara will be the Assistant Head Coach for the Southwest Regional Girls High School Lacrosse team this May at the 2009 National Tournament in Baltimore, MD.

Most Memorable Sports Moment (Player): In the locker room before the 2004 National Championship game in St. Louis, we were singing “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough!” at the top of our lungs, weathering out a huge thunder storm. When it came time to take the field and the storm had settled, we left the locker room silently and marched through the halls in our cleats, sticks in hand, past the other teams – we were in the zone and went on to win the 2004 National Championship.

Most Memorable Sports Moment (Coach): Winning the 2008 CIF Championship against Coronado HS, we won by one goal and we were playing one of the best teams in San Diego. The girls played their hearts out down to the very last second, we won by 1 goal. They dug deep, never let up, and showed Katie and I their true character, they pushed one another, encouraged one another and stayed positive throughout the game. They never stopped believing in themselves and each other. That was the win I think they were MOST proud of, they had truly earned it, it polished off the perfect season: 23-0.
