We would like to congratulate Conner Gleissner on his commitment to Cal State San Marcos. Here are Connor’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Cougar!
Conner Gleissner
1. Share your recruiting story and status I started pretty early in the recruiting process, around 9th grade. I started with a huge list of 100 schools that I contacted. My grades were really good which gave me more opportunities. Interest started to pick up after the Junior Fall Classic in Arizona, but it was a slow process. I connected with Ryan Thompson over Twitter towards the end of my Junior year in high school and it turned out that he had gone to the same high school as me. After talking with Ryan, he was able to get me more focused on specific colleges he knew were looking for players like me. In the fall of my senior year, I went on several college visits and received a few offers, but I waited until after the Senior Fall Classic to decide. Going into the Senior Fall Classic I had a very good list of schools that I was able to target. After the classic I received a ton of interest and more offers, however, I ended up committing a week later to a school I had visited in the fall. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I am going to Cal State San Marcos. I chose this school because it was the perfect fit for me. I like the available options for majors, it’s in a great area and it has a baseball program that I believe I can contribute to and have success at. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? I came to SportsForce late in the process even though I had many relationships with coaches, I was not being actively recruited. SportsForce was able to give me a plan going into my senior year. The highlight videos they make using your game clips are a huge time saver. Ryan Thompson is a cool dude and he knows at what level you can play at, so listen to him. He has a lot of connections with college coaches and he reaches out to them for you if he thinks you would be a good fit. He gave me advice before I talked to coaches on the phone and before visits. He is really good at reminding you that there are options when you think there are none. He even worked with me on a throwing program I could use while also playing football. Recruiting is a ton of work so if you can get the help do it. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? The biggest advice I have is to figure out right away what level or levels you actually have a chance at playing at. This will save you a lot of time and money. Don’t go to showcases and camps unprepared. Start early because recruiting seems to be happening earlier every year. Always get game clips for highlight videos. Get on a team that you will have fun being around since you will be spending most of your summers playing ball. Get good grades. 5. How excited are you on your future in college? I am really excited about heading off to college and playing more baseball. My family is happy they will be able to catch many games too. I feel pretty lucky right now! 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? My family will probably be saving $20-25,000. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would definitely recommend SportsForce and especially advisor Ryan Thompson to other athletes, even if you start late as I did. They have the extra connections with college coaches that will help you get noticed. It’s also nice to talk to people that know the process and know what you go through.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Justin Corliss on his commitment to the Point Loma Nazarene University. Here is Justin’s recruiting story told by his dad. Good luck as a Sea Lion! 1. Share your recruiting story and status. We were referred to SportsForce from a long-time hitting coach of Justin’s. After Paul looked at Justin and in talking with him, we found that SportsForce would be able to help get Justin’s name out there to many college coaches with the goal of getting him on a team based on their plan and knowledge. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? Justin chose Point Loma in San Diego and he decided that was the right place for him as he made several visits to the college to talk with professors and other students. Justin felt a very close connection with the people, professors and what the school had to offer for him in academics and sports. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was able to contact the head coach at Point Loma several times to promote Justin and his skills. They knew Coach Jame very well and made several phone calls and emails to him to discuss what value that Justin would bring to the team. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Start the process early in High School and start off by visiting colleges that you are interested in. Look to see if the college offers a camp that you can attend as we felt this was a better way to showcase our son’s ability and was also able to talk with the coaches one-on-one. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? Justin is very excited about his future in both academics and athletics. He loves being part of a sports program that cares for their players, is looking to grow, and to be competitive. But also teaching him important lessons in life that will help him in his future. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? Justin didn’t get an athletic scholarship but is looking to work hard his first year and the goal would be to get something in his second year. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would recommend SportsForce as they have a good group of people that care about what they do and want to help further the players career in both academics and athletics. Everyone at SportsForce has extensive knowledge of the recruiting process and are willing to go above and beyond to help.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Michael Davinni on his commitment to the University of San Diego. Here are Michael’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Torero! 1. Why did you or your family choose the school you did and what is the school? I wanted to play D1 college baseball and go to a highly reputable baseball and academic school on the west coast. It was important for me to be away from home, but not too far away from my family and friends. The University of San Diego (USD) was a perfect fit for me as a student-athlete. The student population is not too big, but big enough, and the smaller classroom size is attractive. They have a strong, winning baseball tradition and an excellent coaching staff that I established a strong bond with early in the recruiting process. USD provides me the opportunity to compete for playing time early which is very attractive and important. Their strong baseball program in a competitive conference, along with a great academic reputation and close proximity to the beach in San Diego, CA made USD an easy decision. 2. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? I would advise all student-athletes to start the process early in your Freshman year. Make sure you focus and narrow down your target list of interested colleges, but be open-minded as you never know what you might be interested in. Plan to get as much exposure to college recruiters as possible. Participate in a lot of highly reputable tournaments with your club/travel teams and put together a solid highlight video that you can share with coaches. Learn in advance how to properly communicate with recruiters/coaches and know what questions to ask and what topics not to bring up. Make sure you establish a solid relationship with your schools’ coaches and don’t feel pressured to make a decision until you are ready. 3. How excited are you about your college choice? I am very excited about the opportunity to be a student-athlete at the University of San Diego and having the opportunity to compete and contribute right away. 4. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? It’s a considerable amount that our family is saving which we are truly grateful and blessed to be receiving. Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Ethan Hott on his commitment to Stanford University. Here are Ethan’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Stanford tree! 1. Share your recruiting story and status! To be honest, the recruiting process was a bit of a roller coaster. For me, it was stressful at times. Luckily, I had the help of Andrew Beinbrink and SportsForce to guide me through the process. At the beginning of the summer, I was in contact with no schools at all. I attended a local PBR showcase in June and performed well. PBR then asked me to attend the Future Games in Georgia the next month. This is where things really picked up quickly for me. The event was unbelievable and I managed to play well enough to begin communication with some schools. Stanford being one of them. They asked me to attend a prospect camp a couple of weeks later. After the workout, I received the offer. Stanford has been my dream school since I was interested in playing college baseball. The decision was easy. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? Once I graduate high school, I will be attending Stanford University. Stanford is of the most elite in both athletics and academics, both of which are very important to me. The campus is beautiful and it is relatively close to home. Once I was given the opportunity to play there, I jumped on it. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce not only provided me with a personal profile to showcase myself to coaches but also provided me with the knowledge and expertise of my recruiting advisor, Andrew Beinbrink who helped get in contact with coaches and manage everything involved in the recruiting process. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? My biggest piece of advice would be that once you have a school, or schools in mind that you would potentially want to go to, work harder than any other person to achieve that goal. Lift, train, and focus in on that goal. It will pay off and schools will see this. Especially once you get to high school and more opportunities open up. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? I am overcome with excitement. I am fortunate enough to have committed to the school I’ve wanted to go to for years and it puts a smile on my face every time I think about it. Truly surreal. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? I am fortunate enough to have been offered an athletic scholarship. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would absolutely recommend SportsForce to other student-athletes. They provide you a personal profile page, video, and the expertise from their very knowledgeable staff.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Matt McNaney on his commitment to Trinity University. Here are Matt’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Tiger! 1. Share your recruiting story and status! I verbally committed with Coach Waters while at the Stanford camp on July 10, 2019. I really began the recruiting process after the spring season of my sophomore year. This is when we began reaching out to college coaches and attend the large recruiting camps, mostly academic, around the southwest and California. I ended up only playing in front of the Trinity University coaches one time, which was at the Headfirst Academic Camp in Arizona during the fall of my Junior year. This is where we began to communicate and he invited me to come visit their campus later in the fall. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I am going to Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. I chose this school because throughout this process I learned that I wanted to go to a smaller high academic school close to New Mexico with the best baseball possible. As I learned more about Trinity I realized that it was one of the only schools that fit all of these criteria. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was so helpful in getting me in contact with all of the coaches and schools that I was interested in, as well as tracking which schools were answering and watching my video. The video was also incredibly helpful and SportsForce helped us to put all of my clips together and got them to the coaches that I wanted to communicate with. The team also gave me and my Dad a ton of advice about what we should be doing in regards to emails, camps, and showcases. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? My advice to others who are going through this process would be to start the process as early as you can, but also to take your time with your decision. Some of my teammates and friends started committing very early and at times I felt that I wanted to commit as early as I could like they did. I had an opportunity to commit early as well and I am glad I didn’t because that would not have been nearly as good of a situation. So take your time in the process and make sure to investigate the smaller D2 and D3 baseball schools too. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? I am super excited about my future in college. I think that Trinity is the perfect school for me socially, academically, and athletically. I know that it is a place that I can really thrive on and off the field and have a lot of fun as well. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? I would estimate that my family is saving about $100,000 with the academic scholarship that Trinity is offering alone because it is a division 3. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? Yes without a doubt I would recommend SportsForce to any athlete of a family that is serious about pursuing college athletics. The SportsForce team was always helpful and gave my family a lot of personal help.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Will Ireland on his commitment to Orange Coast College. Here are Will’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Pirate! Share your recruiting story and status! I took an extra year after high school to get bigger and stronger as I am a late bloomer with a late birthday, and I would recommend that process for others in a similar position as well. I committed in April of my Senior year. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? I am going to Orange Coast College, and I chose this school because of how much I like the coaches and their ability to develop players and move them on to the next level. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was a great help throughout this process because they assisted with contacting schools and coaches, and there is always somebody there when you need help or advice about what to do. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? I would encourage other athletes going through this process to make a video that shows their abilities the best that it can. It’s important to show the coach who you really are as a player and a person so that they can feel confident in who they are recruiting. How excited are you on your future in college? I’m very excited for my future in college and can’t wait to be a Pirate! Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? I would recommend SportsForce to other athletes because they help you understand all the different types of schools there are to go to, and they help you understand the recruiting process and assist you when you need help along the way.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Brian King on his commitment to Brandeis University. Here are Brian’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Judge! Share your recruiting story and status! I started the college recruiting process during the summer after the 8th grade. I was playing for my travel team when I met Coach Ryan Thompson who introduced me to SportsForce. I had played in front of college coaches at showcases and listened to D1 and D3 coaches as they explained their programs and what they expected from prospective players. Coach Thompson explained the realities of the different divisions and how my dream schools and safe schools needed to be balanced. I had to consider what I wanted to study, where in the country I wanted to live while attending school and how realistic my dreams and goals were with the different schools. I had to balance playing with my education. Coach Thompson helped me get in touch with schools I was interested in after sending them highlight videos we made demonstrating my ball skills. I heard from schools expressing interest in me, but no official commitment until late in my senior year. The head coach at Brandeis University told me that they had been following my videos that Coach Thompson helped make. His staff had seen me play in Phoenix and expressed that they really wanted me to come to Brandeis. It is a D3 school, so no baseball scholarship, but it is an excellent academic school. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Don’t get discouraged from the lack of responses from college coaches because they are very busy with their teams; Coach Thompson told me about that but it is still difficult. Be flexible because dream schools are targeted by every player in the country and there are only a few spots on these teams. Keep up with communicating with the schools you want to go to even if it feels like a one-way relationship. I know that my parents have spent a lot of money during my baseball career between travel ball teams fees, travel expenses, training costs, and coaching fees. Coach Thompson & SportsForce are great and they can be a big help for a good player to try and get into a great school.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. Started by CEO & founder Andrew Beinbrink, SportsForce Baseball is a nationally recognized college recruiting advisory group with over 40 former college coaches, players, and MLB scouts in 10 different states. We would like to congratulate Ryan Virata on his commitment to the University of La Verne. Here are Ryan’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Leopard! 1. Share your recruiting story and status! The recruiting process took some time. Ryan Thompson and the team at Sports Force helped me find colleges that best fit me, athletically and academically. With Ryan Thompson’s guidance and advice, I was able to find the right college for me. I signed my letter March 29, 2019. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I am signing with the University of La Verne. I chose this school because of the environment and the community that surrounds the campus. I feel this is the best school for me and that I will be able to thrive and grow as a student-athlete. As a bonus – it’s close to home and my family would be able to attend home games! 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce helped me in the recruiting process by providing information that my family and I did not know about. SportsForce also put me on the radar with many colleges by helping me send communication out to coaches and creating/updating my highlight videos. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? The advice I would give to players and parents is to start as early as you can. The more exposure you are given, there more times the college coaches can see you. I also recommend making a highlight video that shows your strengths to the scouts. Last but not least, be patient. The recruiting process IS a process and the more you invest in it, the better. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? I am very excited to attend the University of La Verne. I feel that the school was the best fit for me academically and athletically. 6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses? We would be saving over $120,000 over the course of four years at La Verne. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would highly recommend SportsForce to other student-athletes because they provide a lot of inside knowledge about the scouts and provide support (emails, highlight videos, etc.) to help get on track with the recruiting process.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Cade Nicol on his commitment to Colorado Mesa University. Here are Cade’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Maverick!

1. Share your recruiting story and status!
I didn’t know what to expect going in, it was a little more of a roller-coaster ride than I anticipated though. We had a lot of college programs go through some significant coaching changes during the process. We signed with SportsForce in May of 2018. It took a little bit of time to piece my profile together as it was the end of the school year, but once we cleared a summer vacation and some West Ranch Summer baseball, we really got moving in late July 2018. I committed on April 10, 2019. The NLI came about a week later, is when it became official.

2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?
I have chosen Colorado Mesa. They had every box checked that was important to me. I wanted a school that was good at other sports, and where the student body had a lot of school spirit year-round. I also wanted a school that was not too big and not too small. Some of the schools that were recruiting me were about the same size as my high school. As far as baseball goes, they have a coaching staff that has been there for a long time and have had great success. After experiencing the coaching carousel of college baseball, this really moved up on my list of importance. They also have a great fan base and support and play in one of the best college baseball stadiums.

3. How did SportsForce help in the process?
Ryan (Thompson) helped with so many things, answering questions about what college coaches were saying or not saying. Constantly giving advice, and helping mapping out strategies. Calming us down when college coaches kind of go in recruiting hibernation. Also, helping us save a ton of money by knowing which showcases to attend or not attend. Thank you to the people at SportsForce with getting my videos together and posting them up on YouTube and my profile.

4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process?
I would say, from what we learned, to start early if you can. I didn’t start until after my junior year. Also, learning how to put together effective videos together with good camera angles is a huge plus that we found. Coaches can’t always see you play live, they want video. Besides the 4 videos that SportsForce helped me put together, Colorado Mesa wanted a video after each outing that I had. I think we sent them 7 additional videos. Also, be patient and lean on your advisor, there are things that come up from college coaches that can be tricky to navigate. Having someone like Ryan Thompson and utilizing his experience throughout the process really helped balance everything.

5. How excited are you about your future in college?
Very excited, I can’t wait to be a part of the Colorado Mesa baseball team and contribute to hopefully reach and win a College World Series.

6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses?
We saved $15,300 per year with everything added up

7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?
We already have, we have told several teammates and families from other schools, that there is no comparison to the other “recruiting services” out there. Having someone like Ryan was the key. Someone that has the college coaches’ ear, and when they tell a coach they need to look at this player, they do. I received a lot of calls right after Ryan reached out to them. Colorado Mesa coach told me that right up front, that he was calling me because of what Ryan Thompson said about me.

We would like to congratulate Justin Campos on his commitment to Hawaii Pacific University. Here are Justin’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Shark! (Questions answered by Jill Campos, Justin’s Mom) 1. Share your recruiting story and status! I started really getting interested in the recruiting process the summer before Justin’s Junior year. I (Jill-mom) did most of the recruiting and reaching out to colleges Justin was interested in attending and send our consolidated baseball videos. I went to lots of baseball camps and school visits searching for the right environment for Justin academically and for baseball. Meet with Coach Ryan Thompson based on a referral from the Rons family and signed up for the recruiting process and switched teams to TB SoCal. We decided that it was too stressful to take on the process ourselves and took a lot of time so let’s let the professionals handle it. Through Ryan, Justin received a ton of interest and ultimately committed to Hawaii Pacific University on April 7th after receiving a very generous offer letter from Coach Correa on March 22nd. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? Hawaii Pacific. The school has a great business program, the coach is young and full of innovated ideas/coaching style and ultimately Justin already felt like family. The coaching staff and players were very welcoming to Justin. Justin was looking for a program where it felt like one big family. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? Coach Correa reaches out to Ryan and indicated to him what he was looking for and Ryan indicates to him that he had the perfect player that would fill a void on his team and would be a perfect fit. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Trust the process and get a video. Justin used to tell me that all the time and I hated it. He was right. The right school at the right time will come along. Ryan knows his stuff–– and cares about his athletes. He takes the time to know his players/athletes intimately (athletically and academically) so he can fit you with the right college. He will not place you with the wrong college ever and he will always be honest. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? Very. I have found a home where I can excel academically and on the baseball field. Plus I get to experience new adventures in Hawaii. 6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses? $104,000 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? Yes, for the reasons mentioned above.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision.
