PERSONAL STATEMENT
I believe that I can achieve my goal of playing lacrosse in college as long as I work and practice hard and always give each practice and game 200%. I play lacrosse because I am passionate about the sport. I enjoy being part of a team and learning new skills to improve my game. After college, I plan on using that same drive to become a successful business woman with either a career in Sales or Mathematics. Overall each and every day I strive to be the best.
Describe Your Playing Style?: |
Lacrosse is a team sport and you must work together to win. When I am on the field, I play intelligently. If I charge to the goal and there is not a good angle to shoot, I will pull out instead of forcing and causing a possible turn over. Being a midfielder, I know the frustration of running up and down the field after forced shots. During a game, I always play with my head up looking for the next pass. When there is a foul, I am thinking three steps ahead to the possible passes which could be made that can lead to a goal. I play with speed, aggression, and my brain. |

Favorite Athlete(s) and why?: |
Kara Cannizzaro (UNC). While at the Nike All Stars camp in 2013 in MA, Kara gave a very inspirational speech about the sport and her journey to loving lacrosse. Her talk resonated with me. I enjoyed watching her intensity on the lacrosse field. She always puts 200% into everything she does. She is the type of player I strive to be. |
Other activites and interests: |
I've always been a person who loves animals and I enjoy volunteering at my local humane society. Also, since I live close to the ocean, I enjoy going to the beach to bodysurf and play volleyball with my teammates. |
Who's been the biggest influence on my sports career and why?: |
My parents have been the biggest influence on my sports career. My dad played Division II College baseball and is key to my accuracy in catching, throwing and shooting. Practicing with him is always a challenge and it forces me to learn to anticipate where the ball is headed. My mom has taught me if I work hard then anything is possible. Also being part of a travelling club team is expensive, so they have really sacrificed a lot for me to follow my dreams of playing lacrosse in college. They are always there pushing me and believing in me when I need it. I have them to thank for all my success. |
About Me: |
While growing up, playing sports was what I enjoyed doing the most. I love the atmosphere of the crowd and the feel of winning after a big game, but I mostly enjoy the bond between me and my teammates. I have tried many sports like softball, swimming, diving, and gymnastics, but when I was introduced to lacrosse by my best friend something just clicked. I knew I wanted to be a lacrosse player from the minute I first held a lacrosse stick. Since then I have introduced the sport to many of the players on our high school team.
Being a freshman on varsity was a great experience. I think that playing with the older girls made the transition from Middle school lacrosse to high school lacrosse so much easier. The fast pace and the intricate plays we did improved my skills times ten in my freshman year. I also learned by observing the captains on how to be a great leader and how to earn the respect from your other teammates. My biggest rule is to have no drama on the lacrosse field and the team should always play as one unit. |
