PERSONAL STATEMENT
Baseball has always been my favorite sport to play and a big part of my life and personal development. Baseball has taught me many valuable life lessons, including dedication, perseverance, team work and poise in all situations. My goal is to keep playing baseball for as long as possible. I am also looking forward to applying what I have learned from the game into a career in business or sports management when my playing days are over.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Describe Your Playing Style?: I am a Gamer. As a physical late bloomer, I have always had to find ways to compete and be successful against bigger and stronger players by working harder and playing smarter. I am always confident, poised and ready to go regardless of the size of the situation. As a pitcher, my goal / approach is efficiency & effectiveness:
Throw 75% first pitch strikes;
Get the batter out of the batter's box in 4 pitches or less.

Favorite Athlete(s) and why?: Clayton Kershaw, Scott Kazmir, Brock Holt
Who's been the biggest influence on my sports career and why?: Nate Trosky - Because of his mental approach of how to play the game - "There is a special breed of player, his size and strength is irrelevant. He plays with a fire in his heart and a fierce loyalty to his team. He keeps the present greater than the past". Coach Trosky gave me confidence when he singled me out for my pitching and hitting performance at a Trosky camp back in 2015 as an example that size does not matter in this game - "the smallest attendee at the camp showed us this weekend that size only matters in this game if he (me) thinks it does".

Shane Schumaker - Because of his teaching & coaching that to improve my game, I have to be dedicated. Loved the statement & question he had the team write down at our first practice - "somewhere, someone is getting better. Am I that someone?"

Zak Krislock - as my pitching coach, he has always encouraged and never discouraged. He taught me to have trust in my stuff and make the hitter get himself out.

About Me: I have never been confused with the biggest guy on the field. So I love it when people underestimate me and my abilities. I love competing against the best and proving that heart, effectiveness and mental toughness are NOT determined by measuring tapes and scales. I look forward to giving everything I have playing for a program and teammates that shares this mindset!
