It is with great pride that I write this letter in support of Kevin Coleman. I have worked with Kevin over the past 3 years as a member of the Varsity Baseball team and I quickly realized the superb student-athlete that he is. There are so many qualities that Kevin possesses that make him a unique and desired student athlete. One quality that I've found in Kevin is his ability to be a "coachable" athlete. There have been many gifted athletes whom I've worked with over the years but few are as coachable and talented as Kevin. He truly loves the game of baseball, is humble, and respectful. When given advice Kevin is always open for new suggestions and try new things. He is unafraid of making mistakes and is also able to accept responsibility and move on when errors occur. He is everything that defines a "coachable" athlete. Another trait that I think of when describing Kevin is that he is a "winner". His effort and dedication to his sport is second to none, many times I've seen him working out on his own before or after practice. This determination rubs off on his teammates and motivates them to work harder and be their best. He serves as an outstanding leader even as one of the younger members of the team and is revered by his teammates not only for his athletic skills but also for his ability to inspire, engage, and lead others. In short, his winning attitude is infectious among his teammates, coaches, and opponents. Lastly, I would like to speak about his character. He truly is one of the finer young men I have had the privilege to coach in my 15 years of coaching. I have had several coaches speak to me after a game and comment on what a respectful, humble, and outstanding young man he is. I can also say I have spoken to many of his teachers and they all say the same things. In closing, I am confident that Kevin will be an irreplaceable addition to any team that he is a member of and will be successful in whatever endeavors he puts his mind to.

Over the past year, I have had the pleasure to be Kevin Coleman's football coach at Pelham Memorial High School. Kevin Coleman is one of the most coachable kids I've been around in my twenty years as a coach and scout. A college baseball program would benefit by having someone of Kevin's leadership and character. As a baseball player he displays speed, power, and versatility. He is primarily a catcher, but he can also play any position. His showcase measurables/numbers speak for themselves but I believe he will continue to grow and improve based on his work ethic and coachability. Also important to note about Kevin is that he is a three sport varsity athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. As a scout I know this not only speaks to his athleticism but also to his potential and projectability.

Kevin Coleman attended the baseball camp which I am the director of every summer from ages 7 through 14. His "five tools" combined with his willingness to make eye contact and listen when being coached are the best we have witnessed among any camper during the past nineteen years. Given that we have had over 30 future NCAA players come through our program and three professionals, including one current major leaguer, that is high praise for a player. As a former NCAA Div 1 coach, what sticks out to me about Kevin is his athleticism. I always sought to recruit the best athletes and competitors I could bring into our program. Kevin has a high ceiling as a player because of his natural athletic prowess. As he refines his baseball mechanics, his performance will only grow.
