PERSONAL STATEMENT
Baseball has been my passion since I was six years old. I love to compete, and my goal is to play baseball for as long as I can and to play at the highest level possible. I am a student-athlete who is strong mentally and who is dedicated to putting in the time and hard work in order to do the best I can at everything I do. I have a positive attitude, and I always try to lead by example. I am looking for a school and a program that will challenge me both mentally and physically, as I continue to learn and grow and strive to be the best person I can be on and off the field. With the athletic and academic attributes that I possess, I know I have what it takes to make a positive impact on a team.

Recommendation: I had the pleasure of coaching Brandon this summer and was very impressed with him right from the first tryout. He has great work ethic and is a very good lead by example guy. He has shown that he is very coachable and is willing to put in the work on and off the field. He is always in the game whether he is on the field or not and always seems to be thinking a step or pitch ahead trying to gain an advantage. He does have the ability to be a 2 way guy at the next level. On the mound he doesn't throw any thing straight, likes to live around the zone and creates a lot of contact for his defense. Brandon has the tools to become a corner outfield guy for any big school. He runs the outfield well and takes great routes to balls. At the plate Brandon has really good zone awareness, is able to spray it to all fields and has shown glimpses of some pop to all fields as well. With his work ethic, and as he continues to get bigger, faster, and stronger, the sky is the limit with him.

Recommendation: Brandon Compton
LHP, OF, 1B
Sophomore (Buckeye Union High School)

Brandon is an exceptionally talented and skilled student-athlete that has the intangibles and potential to be successful at the next level. He is an intelligent individual who is a leader on campus and in the program. Aside from his outstanding 4.0 grade point average, Brandon possesses many qualities and strengths as a baseball player.

He has an extremely high IQ of the game and processes it at a level that is not normally seen at his age. He is always talking baseball, asking questions and constantly working to improve both in the weight room and on the field. Throughout offseason workouts, practices and games, Brandon maintains the same mentality and respect for the game.

As a pitcher, Brandon has the talent to pitch at the next level. He is a left-handed pitcher that has a four-pitch repertoire of fastball, slider, curve, and changeup. His strengths on the mound include his ability to consistently control his fastball and slider, understand counts and situations, create movement on his off-speed pitches, keep hitters off balance, get ahead in the
count early, and field his position. In addition, he has been developing a quick pickoff move.

In his first varsity season as a freshman, Brandon was an instrumental part of the team as a front-of-the- rotation pitcher. In 27 innings pitched, he accumulated 26 strike outs and allowed 12 earned runs. More impressively, in five games in which he pitched four innings or more, he only allowed two runs or less.

As a fielder, Brandon has a strong and accurate arm. He also has an uncanny ability to track the ball in the outfield no matter how hard it is hit. At the plate, he will consistently work into deep counts. Brandon provides solid pop to the ball when he makes contact.

During his freshman campaign, he struggled at the plate at times, but managed to record quality at-bats in key situations. His composure in tough situations on the mound and at the plate is uniquely impressive.

Brandon is a kid who comes from a great family and has a good head on his shoulders. He holds himself to a higher standard. He is one of those kids that can positively change a program, not just because of his talents and skills, but because of his willingness to put in the effort, work hard, learn, and display his positive attitude on a daily basis.

Recommendation: Brandon Compton is a medium build LHH OF/ LHP with present athleticism. He has present strength but has not yet fully matured physically and has a ton of room to get bigger and stronger. Brandon shows a very good understanding of the game- has a very high baseball IQ. He also really understands development and is constantly finding new things to improve on or tweak to get better. He puts in the work. He's the type of kid that will wake up by himself at 6:00AM to hit before a 8:00AM game. Brandon has an advanced hitting approach for his age group with a simple relaxed set up at the plate. It's more of a line drive approach right now. When he mentally thinks left center field gap he is at his best. Also has some power and the ability to hit the ball to the RF wall though. Defensively, he has solid actions in the OF. Takes decent angles and gets decent jumps. Brandon can work on his speed & quickness in the OF while being a bit lighter on his feet. Will help improve his already slightly above average OF play. On the mound, his velocity isnt real high for his class but commands pitches with a 3 pitch mix well. Can sail up in zone at times but has tweaked things to keep that under control. He has a smooth, calm & collective delivery that controls the game. Velocity will come as he matures and gets physically stronger. He has good pitch ability and gets hitters out. As a student, Brandon is top notch. If he puts similar effort to the classroom as he does baseball, he's going to really excel. He has a 4.63 GPA and was Scholar Athlete of the year. Class Rank #1. With all of that aside, Brandon is truly a great kid that loves the game and is addicted to working hard. He is a lead by example type of leader. Brandon should be a strong follow for college programs over the next couple years.

Recommendation: Brandon is a hard working and dedicated athlete. His work ethic is second to none. On the mound, he showcases a four pitch repertoire FB, CH, CV, SL. He attacks the zone and has been working diligently on using his lower half to throw the baseball. At the plate, he is a lefty swinger who can play first or the outfield. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.

Recommendation: Title: Retired Professional Baseball Coach (Seattle Mariners)
Presently: Hitting Instructor @ Fuel Factory Sports in Phoenix, AZ

I have spent most of my life coaching baseball in high school, college (The University of Portland), and then with the Seattle Mariners. I feel qualified in recommending Brandon Compton as an outstanding college prospect. First of all, he is a good student with outstanding grades. He is a very athletic left-handed hitter who plays the outfield and pitches. I see him being a middle of the order college hitter with decent power. On top of this, he is the type of person you want on your team because he works hard, is a good teammate, and is a good learner (he picks things up quickly). The last attribute is that he loves the game of baseball, as he can't get enough of it...nice attribute today. I am recommending Brandon Compton for your consideration.
