Jim Fritz is originally from New Jersey, where he played his collegiate lacrosse at Montclair State and was recently inducted into the Montclair State Lacrosse Hall of Fame. While in NJ, he helped grow the game. He started the program at Chatham HS and Bloomfield College, as well as the Belmar Summer League and the War at the Shore Tournament. He also spent a year in England working with the English Lacrosse Union as part of their development program.
He then left for North Carolina to take over and rebuild the Pfeiffer lacrosse program into a national power. He is currently in the Pfeiffer Athletics Hall of Fame. After 12 seasons at Pfeiffer, he left to start the Queens Lacrosse program. In a short time, he built the Queens Program into one of the best in D-II. He has led his teams to 6 Conference Championship appearances, 6 Regular Season Championships, and 1 NCAA Playoff appearance.
He currently lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife and daughter and coaches for the Carolina Miners Club team and runs Jim Fritz’s Winning Edge Lacrosse.
During his coaching career he has been recognized by US Lacrosse with over 200 wins. He also holds the record for wins in the Deep South Conference, Pfeiffer, and Queens. He is also in the top 10 for wins and winning % in D-II.
He has always been a big believer in growing the game. 9 of his former assistants have gone on to coach in D-I, including one who coached his national team to a Gold Medal for Team Canada. He also sent 6 players to play overseas in different Development programs, hosted the English World Team for training camp.
