Career Bio |
CJ graduated from Ramona High School, just outside of San Diego, back in 2014. He then went on to play at San Diego City college as a two-way player for his freshman year where he then ended up transferring to California State University of Los Angeles. CJ continued as a two-way player his sophomore season at LA and during the summer season of 2016 where he played for the Palm Springs Power managed by Casey Dill. He had a very successful Junior year earning 1st Team All-Conference Utility Player, being named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team, and All-American Honorable Mention.
All of CJ’s awards and acknowledgements certainly did not go unnoticed since he was then selected in the 22nd Round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins as a RHP his Junior year. Unfortunately he was plagued by arm injuries very early into his pro career which he would never fully recover from and would eventually get released in July of 2018. After taking sometime time away from baseball, CJ began his transition into coaching by becoming a volunteer coach at College of the Desert and giving private lessons in the Palm Springs area just before the cancellation of the 2020 season.
