1. Share his recruiting story and status<\/strong>
John had the opportunity to play in some very high profile events at a very early age. He represented Northern California and the USA Baseball program at ages 12, 13 and 14 when he was selected to represent the Norcal NTIS Teams. In the summer preceding his freshman year, he was selected to play in the 14U Boras Classic in Southern California and NCTB “The League”. These events were scouted by college coaches and he began speaking with several of them at that time. 
As his Freshman year ended and the summer began, John was invited to play in the Norcal World Series, NCTB “The 100” and to try out for the Oakland A’s Area Code Team. Again, many coaches saw his performance and began communicating with him at that time. We started receiving many invites to combines and events and were contacted by people who were relaying the interest level colleges had in John. 
We found good training and exposure in Northern California through Richie Anderson at Results Performance Institute, Adam Farb at NCTB and catching Coach Brian Whatley at DNA Catching. What we needed was someone to advise our family and help us understand the recruiting process itself. 2. What school is John going to, and why did he choose them? 
<\/strong>After his Sophomore year of high school, John visited many colleges and received several D1 offers. He accepted the offer from Coach Andy Stankiewicz at Grand Canyon University because Grand Canyon was a great fit academically, socially and offered a competitive baseball environment in which John could continue to develop as a player. The school, coaching staff, facilities, and commitment from the university to continue its support for the program were all factors in making his selection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. How did SportsForce help in the process? <\/strong>
John had lots of interest from college coaches, but was not sure if a good relationship with the interested coach was enough to make a commitment (3 years prior to attending the college). Andrew at SportsForce helped develop a spreadsheet that was uniquely tailored to John’s interests and priorities. It was through this process that we were able to identify Grand Canyon University as a school John may be interested in attending. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? <\/strong>
Don’t get caught up in the hype of early social media announcements regarding commitments. Stay committed to the process of finding a school that is a “all around” good fit for your son. If the coaches that recruited your son leave, would he still be happy with the school of choice? The answer to this has to be yes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses? <\/strong>$72,000 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
