We would like to congratulate Ethan Babcock-Barrie on his commitment to Montana State University, Billings. Here are Ethan’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Yellowjacket!

1. Share your recruiting story and status
I verbally committed to Montana State University Billings (MSUB) on Nov 19th and I signed my NLI on Dec 2nd.  The SF process started out a bit cumbersome with trying to choose my target list.  That was a hard process since I wasn’t an athlete that had a specific school, region or degree in mind.  In hindsight, I should have put more Division 2 schools.

 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?
Montana State University Billings. I chose this school because I felt the team had good team chemistry. They also have a very competitive program that will push me and make me a better player and person.

3. How did SportsForce help in the process?
The biggest help for me was the advice of how to respond to the coaches via email and in person. I also greatly valued the mass emails and how they were able to provide me with information on who opened and clicked on the link.

4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process?

I would suggest taking the time in making your target list. I thought of this list as more of a “concrete document”, when it should have been more of a “moving target”. Meaning, I wish I evaluated my coaches’ responses and updated my list 2-3 times throughout the process.

5. How excited are you on your future in college?
I can’t wait!! I’m so excited that I get the opportunity to extend my baseball career to the collegiate level and to a team that is really good. My recruiting trip was awesome!

6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? (Includes, Athletic scholarships, Academic scholarships, & financial aid)
With the WUE pricing and athletic scholarship, it was 46%.  I won’t know if I was able to qualify for additional academic scholarships until my FAFSA is fully processed.

7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?
Yes. It was a great guide while going through this process. It was really nice to have the support of SF and to have another person/team out there advocating for me. I know SF is respected in the athletics world.

From a parent’s point of view, I would recommend that the parents completed their FAFSA as soon as it opens (October 1st). That way, the parents can get a better snapshot of the whole cost of college. Some of the schools will process the application sooner than others so you might not know the exact, but you can at least get an idea.

Another recommendation is to be patient and to honor the process. It takes time and there are certain time periods in the process that had more response. The biggest tournament was the tournament in October in Arizona. Be prepared for the big tournament and give it your all right off the bat. Don’t hold back!

Over the last 10 years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $80,000 in college expenses.

Why SportsForce is Different:

* View our Home Page Video Unlike most recruiting companies, we do not just partner with anyone for our hands-on recruiting programs.  Instead, we only partner with qualified players who meet our Five academic, athletic, and coachability selection factors
We evaluate between 10,000-12,000 players each summer and fall at top showcases and selectively advise, and advocate for only a limited number of players each year by directly contacting college coaches to help them maximize recruiting offers.
Each of our expert college recruiters is limited to how many players they will advise so there is the best combination of hands-on guidance and personal recruiting outreach to college coaches.
