We would like to congratulate Bennett Allen on his commitment to the University of Puget Sound. Here are Bennett’s recruiting story and interview with his family. Good luck as a Logger!
1. Share your recruiting story and status.
My recruiting story is sort of standard. My education has always been a priority, so I was looking at the Ivy leagues and a lot of D3’s. Eric Gardner (My recruiting advisor) talked to a lot of coaches and I emailed many coaches alone the way, but eventually I found my way down to a few schools and finally made my decision about a week ago. It felt good to know a school wanted me to play and had everything I wanted.
2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?
I am going to the University of Puget Sound. It is a D3 school in Tacoma, Washington that is known for being one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. As soon as I stepped on campus, I knew it was a perfect place for me. Cold (which is great since I have lived in Arizona my entire life), had an amazing staff, and facilities that rivaled the large schools, with the small school feel. I am a very analytical person but this decision was largely from what I felt in my stomach. It just felt like somewhere I would like to spend the next four years of my life.
3. How did SportsForce help in the process?
SportsForce was instrumental in the process for me especially. Andrew is actually good friends with the Puget Sound coach and he was basically the middle man between me and coach Halstead. In addition, SportsForce helped me realize what I wanted from my college experience, whereas before, I was really not sure. The program felt personal the entire way thought and I never felt like I was dealing with some large company.
4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process (ex. start early, get a highlight video)?
For the recruiting video, I would say early and often is the best method. An initial skills video is always good, but multiple times I sent Coach Gardner recent game footage for SportsForce to make into a single video. I would say while video is important, do not stress it out while you are playing. The recruiting happens off the field not in it.
5. How excited are you on your future in college?
I am very excited. I’m working even harder now to make an immediate impact for my team and I can’t wait to see what life has for me.
6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? (Includes, Athletic scholarships, Academic scholarships, & financial aid)
I had the luxury of not having to worry as much about money as some other families. Honestly, I could have had free college at a state university with my grades, but I was really focusing on finding a school with the best education that I can continue my baseball career at. With that being said SportsForce still saved me a ton of other money. As they advised me what showcases and events were actually worth an investment in so I did not waste my money or time.
Over the last 12 years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $80,000 in college expenses.

Read below, why we are different from every recruiting group in the country.
Why SportsForce is Different:
* View our Home Page Video Unlike most recruiting companies, we do not just partner with anyone for our hands-on recruiting programs. Instead, we only partner with qualified players who meet our Five academic, athletic, and coachability selection factors.
We evaluate between 10,000-12,000 players each summer and fall at top showcases and selectively advise, and advocate for only a limited number of players each year by directly contacting college coaches to help them maximize recruiting offers.
Each of our expert college recruiters is limited to how many players they will advise so there is the best combination of hands-on guidance and personal recruiting outreach to college coaches.
